Successful completion of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma shows that you have what it takes to be successful at university. At UFV we applaud your work-ethic and intellectual curiosity.
UFV offers up to a full year of advanced credit (30 credits) for a complete IB Diploma. IB Certificate Higher Level (HL) courses are also eligible for advanced credit.
IB Admission Requirements:
International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma courses can be used in place of equivalent Grade 12 courses within the same subject area, either to satisfy specific course prerequisites or to meet program admission requirements.
IB exam scores will be converted to a percentage grade for the purpose of admission, according to the following scale. If an IB course and corresponding high school course are both completed, UFV will consider the higher of the two grades for admission. IB exam scores will be converted to a percentage grade for the purpose of admission.

IB Transfer Credit:
IB Diploma Program:
UFV offers up to a full year of advanced credit (30 credits) for a complete IB Diploma. Credit will be awarded for Higher Level (HL) courses completed with a grade of 5 or higher. Standard Level (SL) courses completed with a grade of 5 or higher may also be considered for additional first-year credit (for example: Philosophy SL = PHIL 1XX, 3 credits), up to a maximum of 30 total credits.
IB Certificate Courses:
IB Certificate Courses are also eligible for advanced credit. Credit will be awarded for Higher Level (HL) courses completed with a grade of 5 or higher. Standard Level (SL) Certificate Courses are not eligible for credit.
UFV can only evaluate and grant credit once we receive your official IB scores directly from the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO). UFV’s institutional code is 00084. You can request to have your scores sent to UFV when you write the exam, or you can order transcripts from the IBO afterward.
IB Transfer Credit Equivalencies:
The table below does not include every IB course; credit may also be awarded for courses not listed.
IB courses may receive transfer credit for a specific UFV course or unassigned discipline credit (e.g., HIST 1XX) or general credit (e.g., GE 1XX). Unassigned or general credit is given when the course does not have an exact equivalent but is eligible for credit.
