Part-time work on campus

Build your skills while you study. The Work-Study program allows you to gain 120 hours of professional employment experience in conjunction with your studies. It is an excellent way to explore career paths, expand your network, build your resume, and develop professional skills. You will receive mentorship from faculty and staff to gain meaningful work experience where you will set goals, identify knowledge gaps, and develop the skills you will need for your future career.

Student eligibility

Work-Study students are required to be:

  • Full-time (enrolled in a minimum of nine UFV credits or 6 credits for students registered at the Centre for Accessibility Services)
  • Maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA.
  • Students must have completed one semester at UFV.
  • Students who have graduated are not eligible.

Work term hours

Each work term is either 60 hours or 120 hours, depending on the position. You and your supervisor will set your hours to fit your schedule.  Please note that Work-Study positions do not include overtime hours (over 8 hours / day and 40 hours / week). Working on statutory holidays is not allowed.

How to apply to work-study positions

There is no separate application process for the program. All Work-Study positions are posted on CareerLink. Students who meet the eligibility requirements may apply directly by submitting their resume and any required documents through the job posting of interest.

Please review each posting carefully and tailor your resume, cover letter, and other documents to the specific position to achieve the best results.  If you need help with your resume or cover letter, you can book a Career Coaching appointment or attend a drop-in session.
