Step-by-step

T4 gives you three starting points for adding new content to your sections. Choose whichever method suits you best.

How to add new content from the Content menu

  1. Look for the content area in the left-hand navigation menu and click to reveal the drop-down options.
  1. Click on create content.
  1. Choose a section of your website to add content to. You may need to click on the plus icon to see all the sections available.
  1. Choose the content type for your new content block.

 

 GOOD TO KNOW: What is a content type?

A content type is a structured block of content that allows us to keep a consistent content layout and design for different kinds of content. Some examples of content types in use at UFV are:

  • Page content: lets you add basic text and image content to a section (the most common content type)
  • Contact: lets you add a faculty or staff contact profile with the option for adding curriculum vitae information
  • Testimonial: creates a grey-shaded box with text and optional photo and link button

 

  1. Give your content a name. This name is only visible in T4 and doesn't show on the published page.
  1. Fill in the content fields, which will vary depending on the content type.
  1. To see how your content will look on the page, click the preview button on the top right.
  1. To save a draft of your content, click the save changes button. This will put your content into pending mode, which means it won't publish. Remember to save regularly as you go, because T4 doesn't have an auto-save function.
  1. To approve your content to publish, use the drop-down to the right of the save changes button to show the save and approve option and click that.

How to add new content from the Actions menu

  1. Go to your site structure and choose the section you want to add new content to.
  1. Click on the blue Actions menu to the right of your chosen section.
  1. Choose create content.
  1. Follow steps 4-9 above.

How to add new content from a section

  1. From your site structure, edit the section you want to add content to by clicking on the section's name.
  1. Click on the content tab.
  1. Click the green add content button at the top right of the content screen.
  1. Follow steps 4-9 above.
