University of Alberta (Canadian Institute of Ukrainian Studies) and Ivan Rosypskye (Ongoing)

Deliverables

Report, documentary, cedar carving (by Ivan Rosypskye)

Project description

This project was initiated by Ukranian-Heiltsuk carver Ivan Rosypskye and PARC’s director Dr. Keith Thor Carlson. Bringing together academics, community members, and artists, this project sought to tell a story that speaks as forcefully to contemporary news headlines as it does to intergenerational traumas whose origins lie buried in decade’s old conflicts and oppressions.

Student involvement

PARC students conducted genealogical and historical research, presented the research to community members, and filmed and edited a documentary about the project.
