Project description
This project explored the history of labour movements in the Fraser Valley with Heritage Abbotsford, with a focus on Indigenous workers on hop and tobacco farms in the 19th and early 20th centuries.
Student involvement
The student compiled research on Hudson’s Bay Company trading patterns, Indigenous wages at HBC forts and other colonial enterprises, and the ways settler actions and legislation disrupted traditional Indigenous farming practices.
