Blanket Exercise Script
Project description
This project supported the development of Beyond Blankets: A Stó:lō Lands Exercise, a land-based learning activity adapted from the well-known blanket exercise model. While the core goal remains to deepen understanding of our shared history, this version is rooted specifically in Stó:lō teachings, histories, and land relationships. Participants move across blankets that represent the land, stepping into the perspectives of Stó:lō community members, miners/settlers, and government officials to explore themes of colonization, land loss, and resilience through a local lens.
Student involvement
The student researcher helped shape the Stó:lō-specific adaptation by reviewing script materials, integrating historical and cultural content, and supporting activity design. Their contributions ensured the exercise meaningfully reflects Stó:lō experiences and accurately conveys the region’s histories and teachings.
