Fifteen years SASI

15 Year anniversary of the South Asian Studies Institute 2006-2021

This significant moment was celebrated in August of 2022.

Directors Message

It goes without saying that SASI is its people and we have been extremely fortunate over the last fifteen years to have worked with wonderful staff, faculty and students over the years at UFV and beyond. The students have taught us many things and we hope we have fostered some mentorship and learning for them too! Our Faculty Associates are a stellar group of UFV faculty whose work
as professors and researchers benefits us all. SASI staff always go above and beyond what is asked of them and all of it with a smile and great passion. We are indebted to you all.

Fifteen years as a research institute and centre have been very fulfilling, ground-breaking and rewarding. We have many people to thank who stood by us, colleagues who walked with us, leaders who lead the way, friends that held our hand, many that motivated us, spurred us on, supported our ideas and research, philanthropists
who fundraised with us, donated money, time and energy to our many projects, and who always said yes, showed us what it means to be effective and meaningful in all that we do and much more. Thank
you to you all, you are too many to name on a mere page, but our pleasant sentiments are always
present in our ongoing interactions. We could not have done our work without you by our side.

The community engagement we are involved in provides the backdrop for our commitment to applied research that is received with great enthusiasm. We have uncovered a lot, worked hard at many important concerns, built lifelong partnerships, been rewarded with over $5.1 million in funding over fifteen years, implemented a strong vision for thedirector Institute, continued to grow and to build a strong future, all the while remembering our humble beginnings.

Your continued support in and interest of the South Asian Studies Institute at UFV for the last fifteen years is greatly appreciated.

Thank you from all of us at the South Asian Studies Institute,
Satwinder Kaur Bains, Phd
