Director and Staff

Curtis joined the School of Social Work and Human Services in 1997. He was the School’s Field Education Coordinator for five years and Human Services Program Chair for six. Curtis was appointed interim Director in 2021 and Director of the School in 2023.

Curtis was Faculty Chief Steward from 2006 to 2010, then UFV’s Human Rights and Conflict Resolution Officer | Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Officer from 2010 to 2012.

Curtis’ professional interests include family mediation, specifically elder mediation, information privacy, legal knowledge for social work practice, and regulation of the social work profession.

Curtis completed an Associate Certificate in Workplace Conflict and Certificate in Family Mediation at the Justice Institute of British Columbia. He is an Associate Roster Mediator with Mediate BC, a member of Family Mediation Canada, and a member of the Elder Mediation International Network.

From 2011 to 2016, Curtis was an elected member of the BC College of Social Workers’ board, where he served as Chair of the Inquiry Committee, Vice-Chair, and Chair of the College board.
