WorkBC reports that in the past few years, employers have had difficulty filling both experienced human resources management professionals (HRM) and HRM generalist roles in BC and throughout Canada. This trend is expected to continue in the coming years.
You can work your way up in this profession without formal HRM education or a CHRP designation. However, these qualifications are becoming more in demand and most companies prefer both. Your level of business experience is also important. In addition, employers have an increasing interest in candidates with numeric and analytical skills.
Based on the required professional skills to earn a certified human resources professional designation, UFV’s Human Resources Management certificate program helps you prepare to make the move from highly-skilled administrative assistant to specialized HR professional. This HR program is perfect for people who want to increase their level of knowledge and skills to become more strategic in their current position or who wish to advance within the field.
Learn the basics of hiring, managing, and engaging employees, leadership skills, and more.
The program is divided into nine core courses and five elective courses, as listed below. To complete the Human Resources Management certificate, you must complete all nine core courses, plus three electives of your choosing.
You can choose to complete the program in one year, and may take up to three years to complete all courses.
