email AmandaI am a white settler woman of English and Scottish descent, raised in the territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit, otherwise known as Brampton, Ontario, and now living as an uninvited guest on the territories of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh. As an instructor in the Early Childhood Education program, I am working towards a practice of antiracism, decolonization and Indigenous cultural resurgence.
I believe responsive and respectful relationships are at the heart of early childhood education as well as post-secondary education, and I strive to model and build responsive and respectful relationships with all my students.
I have had the opportunity to teach in Early Childhood Education post-secondary programs in BC, the Northwest Territories and Alberta. Prior to my post-secondary teaching, I worked for many years in the Early Childhood Education field, including licensed preschool and infant programs, a family resource centre, and a licensed home childcare. I have a deep interest in storytelling, music and movement, and land-based pedagogies in early childhood programs.
I am honored to be part of the Faculty of Education at UFV and looking forward to getting to know you!
