Prerequisite waivers

Please review the information below carefully before submitting the Prerequisite Waiver Form. The form is available at the end of this section.

EDUC courses

EDUC 200 and EDUC 300

Students who have completed a degree outside of UFV and do not have this credential reflected on their UFV student record may still be eligible to register for EDUC 200 or EDUC 300 with permission. Please submit the prerequisite waiver form below with a PDF copy of your unofficial transcript from your post-secondary institution.

EDUC 480

Students wishing to register in EDUC 480: Designs for Teaching French as a Second Language need to submit a pre-requisite waiver and indicate their level of French to request permission to register. While proof of French fluency (such as DELF exam results) is not required, students should clearly describe their language background (e.g., DEFL B2, French Immersion in K-12, UFV French major, etc.) on the form.

Other EDUC courses

Waivers for any other EDUC courses and practicum opportunities are not available to those outside the program, even with an evaluation from the Teacher Regulation Branch.

ECE and IEA (EDAS) courses

The UFV ECE and IEA programs follow a cohort model, meaning that courses and practicums are designed to be integrated for those who are officially enrolled. Seats are reserved exclusively for admitted students, and practicum opportunities are not available to those outside the program, even with an evaluation from the ECE Registry.

Students not admitted to the Early Childhood Education or Inclusive Education Assistant programs must submit a Program/Prerequisite waiver to take any ECE or EDAS course. If a student has taken an ECE or EDAS course in a previous semester, they must submit a new waiver for any and all future courses if they have not been admitted into the ECE or IEA program. The course instructor will review your request after all ECE or EDAS students have had the opportunity to register.

Important notes:

  • Waivers will be reviewed and approved ONLY after all students within the ECE or IEA programs have had the opportunity to register.
  • We will not consider waiver requests for courses that are restricted to “dual credit” students.
    • On the Timetable, you will see a note similar to the following: Registration is restricted to Chilliwack and Fraser Cascades Dual Credit students.
  • We will not consider waiver requests for practicums.
  • The ECE and IEA programs are offered at the Mission campus.
