Biography

My name is Ramneek, I graduated with a Bachelor of Environmental Studies in Natural Sciences from the University of the Fraser Valley, with an Associate Certificate in Geographic Information Systems. Through my studies I have greatly expanded my leadership, project management and my research and analysis skills. To highlight an aspect of my research, I explored the Socioeconomic and Environmental Impacts of Secondary Suites on Agriculture Land Reserves in Abbotsford and Mission and discussed key findings at WDCAG 2025 in Kamloops with Dr Afia Raja, and my classmates.

Alongside my studies, I have been involved in several environmental initiatives, including volunteering with the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup, serving as a squad leader for the Ocean Heroes Network Bootcamp, working with the City of Surrey Urban Forestry Division and also taking part as an Environmental Officer for Contaminated Sites for Public Services and Procurement Canada. My studies and experiences have helped me develop a strong foundation of skills that will contribute greatly to exploring actions communities can take to build a climate-resilient pathways, while also strengthening regulations towards protecting the environment.

Moreover, I am excited to take part with One Health team, as a Researcher. Through this invaluable experience, I continue to deepen my understanding of the One Health approach and find ways on how the principles can be incorporated at UFV through collaboration, research and community engagement to support solutions towards environmental and public health challenges.

Beyond my academic and work experiences, in my spare time I enjoy swimming, and am currently working on improving my skiing skills to become an expert on the blue trails one day.
