Yahya Rashid has been an LTA Instructor at University of Fraser Valley, Canada. Dr. Rashid has also been faculty at various universities including Thompson Rivers University, Canada, and Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University, Saudi Arabia, where he worked for seven years.
Dr. Rashid’s research interest is in construction project management, sustainability, renewable energy, strategic management and scheduling. His articles have appeared in refereed international journals. In last four years, he has eleven publications. Dr. Yahya Rashid holds Project Management Professional (PMP) certification through the Project Management Institute. He has more than 15 years of teaching and industrial experience.
I strongly believe in engaging students on all levels of learning. Each participant in the class lectures bring their own knowledge, and competences during class discussion. To make the learning process an effective one, I aim at integrating thoughts of students and course topics, with industry experience, to reduce the gap between teaching and working experience. Moreover, the teaching and learning strategies like case studies, simulations, and assignments are very helpful.
Mutual respect and an open atmosphere of exchange is crucial for me to develop creative and productive environment for learning. In my teaching, I therefore aspire to appreciate and include each participant. In addition, collaborative environment can also create a learning environment
During whole semester, I encourage students for critically think about e.g., case study analysis, simulation, problem solving, and project reports, which provides the opportunity to students to think outside the box and learn to handle issues on a better way.
I believe that learning can also enable students to change the world and the communities they live in. One of the ways to discuss the issues and personal experiences of students’ ideas, outside the classroom and into their communities. In addition, scenario analysis like in case study evaluation, can provide opportunity to discuss about topics such as sustainability, environment, globalization.

I have a great appreciation for the professor who pushed me to get my CA designation. Isn’t it crazy how a little conversation can change your life so completely. Keith’s guidance alone has given me a lifetime of happiness and wealth. If I had gone to a larger university who knows if something like that would have ever happened. I am very proud of the route I took, but I wouldn’t have gotten there without my professors at UFV.
