Make sure your mailing address on your student account is correct if you prefer to receive your parchment by mail. See Office of the Registrar Change of Address for more information if applicable.

What to expect

• Once final grades are posted, your application will be reviewed by the School of Graduate Studies.
• You do not need to contact the School of Graduate Studies for approval - this happens automatically.
• Once approved, your application is forwarded to the Office of the Registrar and then to the UFV Senate for final graduation confirmation.

• Senate approves graduation at the following meetings:
• Winter semester graduates in June; 
• Summer semester graduates in September; and 
• Fall semester graduates in February.
• Your graduation status will appear on your academic record once Senate approval is complete.

Teacher Qualification Service (TQS) Category Upgrade

As a certified teacher in BC, you are eligible to apply for a TQS category upgrade upon completion of your MEd. A category upgrade can make a meaningful difference in both compensation and career mobility within the public education system.

To seek a change in category with the TQS, you must submit a formal application, original official transcripts documenting the MEd program, and verification of your employment in the BC public school system to the TQS office. See Category Upgrade for information.

Once your upgrade is processed and you have received your new TQS category card, submit it to your school district to ensure you are compensated correctly.

With a graduate degree in education, you may be qualified to take on a variety of formal and informal leadership roles within schools and school districts. Visit Make a Future for job postings.
