Upon completion of EDAS 131 pre-requisites and before the beginning of your second semester, you will receive a practicum placement form from our Field Experience Coordinator. This form allows you to share your preferences, which will be considered when arranging your school placement.
The Field Experience Coordinator is responsible for coordinating placements by contacting school administrators and staff, recruiting mentors, and facilitating the matching process. Practicum placements are arranged within the following school districts: Chilliwack, Mission, Abbotsford, Langley, Fraser-Cascade, and Maple Ridge.
Once your placement is confirmed, your schedule will be coordinated with your assigned school. To complete the required 200 hours over a 13–15 week term, you should plan to spend approximately 18–20 hours per week at your practicum site.
Please note: Challenging the practicum, or Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR), is not available for EDAS 131.
See Enrolment Verification. For questions, contact the Office of the Registrar.
UFV’s School of Education has a strong reputation and hiring rate amongst Fraser Valley School Districts. In designing this Inclusive EA certificate, the School of Education met with Learning Specialists and Administrators from the Fraser Cascades, Chilliwack, Abbotsford, Mission, Langley, and Surrey School Districts to identify the key skills, knowledges, and dispositions needed to be an effective EA. The program was then designed to address all aspects, making these courses the most up-to-date preparation for today’s complex classrooms.
Your Letter of Completion is available when you receive a graduation application update email from the Office of the Registrar and not before. Once you receive this email, you can obtain a completion letter online by following these steps:
A PDF of the letter will be sent to your student email, typically within 15 minutes. If you have not attended UFV for three consecutive semesters, the letter will be sent to your personal email on your student record. To change your personal information, see Personal Information Changes. For questions, contact the Office of the Registrar.
